WLWT: Videos, public records reveal more details about disturbances at Kings Island

MASON, Ohio — One day after Kings Island closed the park early due to unruly behavior, there was another disturbance at the park, WLWT has learned through public records.

According to dispatch reports obtained by WLWT, a person called police Sunday night concerned about her 14-year-old grandson who was at the park. According to the report the caller said her grandson was "running from a group of males that claimed to have guns."

The report states that dispatchers eventually got the teenager on the line and he then said he didn't think the group had a gun. Public records that were released so far do not indicate any weapons were found.

That report was made about 24 hours after several large fights broke out inside Kings Island and in the parking lot.

According to witnesses and police radio traffic, the chaos continued in the parking lot.

"We have another large altercation in preferred parking," a dispatcher said. "Communication sending Mason units at Kings Island. I have a 911 call right now. A female advised large fights breaking out in the parking lot."

Mason police said no arrests were made, but the investigation is ongoing.

I don't think this was alcohol related. Just various groups of entitled kids starting crap with each other all day long on a very hot day and it finally blew up right there in front of the Coney Barbecue.  The night before, I was at Cincinnati's new music venue, Rivers Edge, and a fight broke out like two parking spaces away from where my car was parked. This looked to be 30 somethings and much less people than what you saw at Kings Island. Apparently, there were smaller isolated incidences throughout the Cincinnati region, including one instance where someone got shot.

  • They are implementing additional security protocols and operational policies as appropriate.

The Mason Police Department working with Kings Island Security were able to identify suspects in several fights at the amusement park.

The department said suspect information will be presented to Warren County Juvenile Court for charges.
