When Kings Island opens, we want you to have an AMAZING day and feel safe when visiting, so we developed an extensive coronavirus reopening plan – new processes and enhanced procedures throughout the park to help reduce the spread of germs. We’re all in this together and by working together you can safely and confidently enjoy the thrills, giggles, and endless smiles that only Kings Island can deliver.

This page provides you with essential information for what you will need to do before you arrive at Kings Island, what you’ll see and experience when you arrive, and how to make the most of your visit—safely—when you get here.

Changes from Last Season:

  • Reservations will only be required for visiting Soak City Water Park. Both Season Passholders and Single Day Ticketholders will need reservations for Soak City.
  • Temperature checks for guests have been discontinued at the front gate.
  • The health screen questionnaire will be conducted by associates at the front gate and will not be conducted  through the Kings Island mobile app.
  • Guests aged 10 years and older are required to wear face coverings while indoors, unless actively eating and drinking. Face coverings are not required outdoors unless it is not possible to maintain 6’ of social distancing. Face coverings should completely cover the nose and mouth, and not have exhalation valves or vents, which allows virus particles to escape.
  • There will be no limitations to ride capacity for most rides. Face coverings are recommended for outdoor rides and required for indoor rides.

The wait is almost over! When Kings Island opens to the general public on May 15 (May 8 for Gold and Platinum passholders), Orion will give its first rides, guests will line up for their first blue ice cream cone and kids will once again be able to meet up with their favorite Beagle, Snoopy.

We want your visit to Kings Island to be AMAZING and for you to feel safe, so we have developed an extensive coronavirus opening plan for the 2021 season.

Many of our safety measures remain the same as last season, but here are some of the differences you’ll notice:

Changes from Last Season

  • Soak City Water Park will open on May 29, 2021. Both Season Passholders and Single Day Ticketholders need reservations for Soak City.
  • The health screen questionnaire will be conducted by associates at the park entrances and will not be through the Kings Island mobile app.
  • Temperature checks for guests have been discontinued at the front gate.
  • Guests aged 10 years and older are required to wear face coverings while indoors, unless actively eating and drinking. Face coverings are not required outdoors unless it is not possible to maintain 6' of social distancing.
  • There will be no limitations to ride capacity for most rides. Face coverings are recommended for outdoor rides and required for indoor rides.

In addition to these changes, several measures remain in place from last season. More details on each of these measures are available in the updated Welcoming You Back section of our website.

Additional Changes at the Park

Kings Island has announced additional changes for the 2021 season to be aware of before your visit.

  • For Season Passholders, Early Ride Time and Bring-A-Friend discounts will return in 2021.
  • As a reminder, smoking is only be permitted in the designated smoking area outside the park’s main entrance and outside Soak City’s main entrance. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside Kings Island.

We’re all in this together and by working together you can safely and confidently enjoy all the thrills, giggles and endless smiles that you have always found during your visits with us.

Thank you for continuing to make Kings Island a place where you share time with the people who matter most to you.
