Updated Fox19: Kings Island sues to reopen

Original Fox19: Kings Island sues Dr. Amy Acton, Warren County Health District to reopen

Gov. Mike DeWine announced Thursday zoos, museums, playgrounds cinemas and other entertainment venues can reopen starting June 10 with virus precautions and attendance restrictions.

A spokesman for DeWine’s office told FOX19 NOW earlier Thursday: “The administration is still working on guidance for those facilities.”

The lawsuit names Dr. Amy Acton in her official capacity as the director of the Ohio Department of Health and the Warren County Health District.

Acton’s latest health order requires amusement parks and water parks to remain closed through July 1.

The lawsuit asks a judge to reopen amusement parks and water parks immediately and to prevent Acton from closing them again in the future.

We are seeking comment again now from DeWine’s office in light of Kings Island’s lawsuit and will update this story.

Hmm, does Cedar Fair have a history with ODH that I’m not familiar with?

WLWT: Kings Island sues Ohio health director in fight to reopen

MASON, Ohio —

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Thursday that entertainment venues across Ohio, such as zoos, museums, movie theaters and more can reopen beginning on Wednesday.

Many expected amusement parks to included on DeWine's list, but it was not.

Kings Island has now filed a lawsuit fighting to open the park immediately.

Finney Law Firm attorneys along with Maurice Thompson filed suit in Warren County Common Pleas Court against Ohio Director of Health Dr. Amy Acton to reopen Kings Island.

Finney Law Firm has filed a series of seven cases to reopen businesses in Ohio.

I just read that Govenor DeWine says casinos and amusement parks can reopen on June 19. The park's website confirms they are now cleared to reopen but has not issued an opening date yet. A handfull of news sites are saying Cedar Point might open a little later because of Civil Unrest, but we will see how that pans out. This comes a day after Cedar Fair filed their lawsuit.

I didn't think the lawsuit had anything to do with DeWine giving it the go ahead. I suspect he gave the okay before he even knew of the lawsuit.

Right now I am just waiting to see how many looters got Corona (no one was practicing safe distance) and how many looters get it (they weren't practicing safe distance either).

The parks got what they wanted already so Cedar Fair should just drop the lawsuite.
