My first night in the mountains, everything was wonderful. We stayed at a little hotel with some collectable cars on display.  Then the next morning we were headed to oz and I was feeling motion sickness... I guess from riding in the back seat on those curvy and hilly roads, but we had to pull over so that I could open the door, lean out, and vomit. Then about 10 more minutes down the road, I had to lean out of the car again to vomit. It gets even better! Part two coming soon.

I take it you mean worse, Mr. Roberts. So sorry you had such a rough time. I know it's safer in the back seat but for a lot of people the front is necessary to stop motion sickness.

So we get to Oz on Beech Mountain Resort. It was cold and rainy, just like Ohio weather had been. I was tired and shivering, but I figured the worse part was over with. We got on this Mountain Resort school bus, and about a mile up the mountain I felt it coming. I pulled a Dollar Tree bag out of my pocket and held it up to my mouth. Dollar Tree bags are small and thin and the worse for holding vomit. The bus driver was giving his spiel where he keeps riders entertained with pop culture trivia and I started power vomiting my guts out. People seem to be nervous and not know how to respond. My friends are sitting in the isles across from me and they don't know how to respond to this situation either. Basically everyone is going on with their business while I'm tossing up. All I ate this morning was dry wheat toast, no butter or anything. As I was giving it all up, everything was tasting like wheat bread... and it wasn't even good wheat bread. As I was getting off the bus I asked where the garbage can was. You could see the puke through the thin Dollar Tree bag. It was pretty much just liquid, like pee colored water.

Well, yuck is about the best I can come up with, Mr. Roberts. Try dry white toast. It's easier on your stomach than wheat any day. Also dry saltines. Hate that your trip was spoiled. By the way, I looked up the ammonia buildup and it's a very scary thing. I am so sorry. Had never heard of that before.

So I throw away my Dollar Tree bag of vomit. I wait in line and head in with my group. I get some pictures of Dorthy who was really pretty. I was unable to get any pictures of The Witch, however... and here is why.

You enter into Aunt Ems house and it's a nice farm house. You go down a ramp and lightning is striking, music and thunder is blaring, and images of Almira Gulch transforming into the evil witch are being projected on the walls. When you reach the bottom of the ramp, Aunt Em's farm house has been wrecked by a tornado. As soon as I got out of the back door, I reach over the walk way rail and vomit off of it.  So that is four vomits in four hours. As I stand back up Land of Oz security comes walking up. I explain that I am not drunk or sick, but that I have none alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. The guard was really nice and asked if I need to leave. If so, he will help me back down the mountain. I was like, no way! I drove 9 hours to see this! The guard followed me for the rest of the show, staying about 12 feet behind me. While all of this was going on, I totally missed the witch.  I had finished the trail and I was sitting on a wall, waiting on my friends. The guard gave me a free bottle of water while we talked.

We went to get back on the bus and remembered we had bought ski lift tickets. No one asked us about it, they just ushered us onto the bus. We had to ride the bus all the way back down and talk to this very sweet girl. She talked to the ski lift operator to get us back on. We rode it up for the view and because we had paid good money to ride it. When we got back to the top on the lift, I saw this heavy set woman and her two kids almost fall off the lift platform. The ride operator got them back on and then we got back on for the ride down. I told the gift shop/ museum at the bottom that I wanted a collector pin but would have to come back for the 'Oz in Autumn.' even't. I explained that it was a 9 hour drive and I wouldn't be able to come back this year because I can't drive that far on my own. So this girls who works there told me send an e-mail to buy one and she would tell the guy who runs it so I could buy one by mail. I think her name was Rachelle.  So hopefully, I will be able to get one this September without trying to drive that far.

So that night we got to our second hotel that was about 15 - 20 minutes from Carrowinds amusement park. I  hadn't vomited any more that day so I thought I was out of the danger zone. We went to the park the next day, and over all, I was not impressed.

I was only able to ride three coasters and the Carolina Skytower, but then things started to fall apart again. Before we get to that, lets back up for a bit.

Fury was an incredible coaster ride and a Giga Coaster. I think it either was or is the tallest coaster in America.

Then the Intimidator is a coaster with a NASCAR theme based on former driver, Dale Earnhardt, who was killed in a professional race in 2001. An excellent ride! Not so good for Dale Earnhardt.

The third coaster I rode was the parks newest that just opened this year, Copperhead. I was trying to secure my glasses and it took off. It was like riding a wild bull. I never got a chance to grab on and I really thought I was going to get bucked out of it. This ride also had the best theming, with old trucks and cars scattered around the line queue, an old hillbilly shack, a moonshine still... but this ride also had the most line jumping that I had ever experienced. But it sure was great to look at while in line.

They have this Festhaus like place called Harmony Hall Marketplace, except that it has a full food court. Lots of varieties to choose from. I had this great rectangle pizza, which is the first thing that I had eaten since the dry wheat toast yesterday morning. So we get off of Copperhead and we're sitting in the shade waiting for my friend to get back from the Frozen Custer place when I felt it coming. I bent over the closest garbage can, so I would not make a mess, and out it all came.  Not sure if it bothered me more that I didn't get to digest my pizza or the fact that all that days medication came up with the pizza. I had it launching out of my nose, so I spent the rest of the day checking my clothes because I thought I was smelling like puke, but the smell was actually in my nostrils. My clothes were chunk and liquid free, however.

Don't they have a first aid station you could have gone to, Mr. Roberts? Seems there would be something else you could take to ease that.

I just saw something a couple days ago on the news about a new coaster that is the fastest, tallest, etc., but for the life of me can't remember where it was, or the name. Not even sure it was in the US but I think so. I was busy and not paying much attention to the news, only that it opened that day - sometime this week.

I could have gone to First Aid, but I doubt the nurse or whatever wouldn't know what to do with a TIPS and liver disease guy and might want to ship me off to a hospital. I don't have the money for that right now and  came very far just to see the place.

I'm sure you're right, Mr. Roberts. Not equipped for anything serious. Thought maybe an anti-nausea med or something, though that's not even always the best thing to do. Maybe sightsee and not ride until things settle.

Cough syrup feels like someone has a knife in my liver and twisting it, so I'm not sure if I can take one or what kind.

So like I said, I was able to ride the Carolina Skytower, which slowly revolves as you sit inside a circle building and it takes you up, giving you a complete view of the park before slowly coming down again.

We rode Boo Blasters on Boo Hill, which is sort of like the one at Kings Island except it races through more like a traditional dark ride rather than taking its time. You move through it so fast that you hardly have time to shoot anything.

Then we played/rode Garden Warfair, where it is plants versus zombies. You sit on a motorcycle like seat and it moved up, down, to the left and to the right. You remember the action motion theater that sits in the split of the Racer Track (that just had Sponge Bob Square Pants in there for the the last few years. It's the same set up where the seats move according to what is happening on the screen, only here they replaced to motion chairs with motorcycle seats that you straddle. The 3-D movie with rocking motorcycle seats was giving me motion sickness. It wasn't really for me due to how I had been feeling on this trip, but at least they are still using the theater and not just storing stuff and making it a permanent home for the Urgent Scare Haunt.

My fiend wanted to ride another coaster but I suggested we take a break and watch a show. It was duel pianist. These guys were so fun we ended up watching two shows. The first was a tribute to the 70's and the second was all 80's. I then walked all over the park looking for collectable pins to add to my collection. All they had was a triple pack with the new Copperhead logo, a generic can of oil and a generic jar of jam.  So they expect me to buy the collectable pack mark up for a smaller than usual Copperhead logo, a can of oil and a jar of jam... Who ordered this crap? I don't want or need a pin of oil or jam so who's bright idea was it to design and order this pin set. If it had been the new coaster, another coaster and the Skytower I might have bought a 3 pack, but oil and jam? No thanks! My friend was looking for a refrigerator magnet and couldn't find any. The 3 star coasters that I rode had a couple of t-shirts each in the ride's gift shops, but nothing like Kings Island which have a few shirts with multiple roller coasters on the front. One shirts for each of the three coasters. First Michigan Adventures and now Carrowinds, they need to put someone in charge of these parks who knows how to order things to sell. Kings Island and Cedar Point both do fine but the other two parks that I have been too have been horrible.

Oil and jam? Seriously, Mr. Roberts? That makes no sense at all.  Cough syrup isn't for nausea - I meant something like Pepto-Bismol or Dramamine. The dual pianist shows sound good. Might want to settle for things that don't move for awhile. Just do shows/events and not rides.

I'm just saying I did not know that cough syrup would hurt my liver until I drank some, so I don't know if Dramamine would hurt or not until I took some. I would not want to risk making my self even more sick at a new park 7 hours from home.

I would like to think your doctor would have told you what was or was not safe to use, Mr. Roberts. But some don't, for sure. I haven't used cough syrup for years - makes me ill - and can't take motion sickness meds either because they interact with others. Yes, I agree you definitely have to be extremely cautious.
