If the locals care so much, they shouldve gone more to help it be profitable and succesful.

Case in point – waterparks attract a mostly local market… and by closing Geauga Lake, a park with over 100 years of history, they have just beaten the proverbial Bee Hive with a big stick. Angry locals are now even less likely to visit the new waterpark only version which will be called, Geauga Lake’s Wildwater Kingdom. From the way things have been going for Cedar Fair since they took ownership of the park, it sounds like they started to anger the locals long ago.

As we mourn we have to remember that this is not only the final passing of Geauga Lake but of SeaWorld Ohio as well. Odd that this lake front setting that was once able to lure in tourists to not just one, but two major theme parks has been reduced to a small and somewhat incomplete waterpark attraction. I can’t help but wonder how things would have turned out if the old owners of Geauga Lake would have been willing to sell the park to Anheuser-Busch (owner of SeaWorld) rather than hold out to sell off their whole chain to Premier Parks. Tracing all the events that led to the downfall of the Geauga Lake attractions back, it all seems to start rolling downhill as soon as Shamu left town.

The remains of SeaWorld, while still used as an animal park, were just not the same under Six Flags’ ownership and outright demolished by Cedar Fair. If Anheuser-Busch had been able to buy Geauga Lake, not only would have Shamu and crew stayed in their Geauga Lake area location, but the Busch’s knowledge of running a park mixing thrill rides and animal exhibits could have seen the park rise up to the level of actually competing with the 900 pound gorilla over in Sandusky rather than becoming another victim of it.-Fool talks about locals going postal about CP's stupid moves

Wow... Those pictures weren't easy for me to look at. It's like seeing a part of my childhood being casually discarded like an old rag. The one with the beat up red truck with the old GL sunface logo really hurt... I understand that business is business, but it doesn't make me feel any better.

Although it was a long time ago, the vibe of the park in the late 70s was unmatched in its Americana cozyness and mesmerizing atmosphere. That's the way I will choose to remember it. Rest in peace, my friend.

And to think that I was upset when they removed the Big Ditch, Sky Glide and Shooting Gallery...

Why would that make you miss Paramount? Sure, Cedar Fair made some wrong moves, but I'm for one glad that our park is no longer used as a venue for advertising movies.

Honestly I'm a bit mixed on the subject I miss paramount because of winterfest,Themed rides and all the great times I had when I was there now I'm glad Cedar Fair lets the Hanna-Barbera Characters roam international street but really thats the all I can think of besides paramount would cut or slim down the budget for a attraction not good bedfellows.

Huh? Paramount was the one who cancelled Winterfest to being with. Yes they brought it back in 05, but obviously the #'s didn't impress Cedar Fair to keep it going. Which for one I blame Paramount for over hyping WF in 2005, and charging way too much.
