  1. The Wiki article is true though... it says KI is the second most visited seasonal amusement park in America. All the other parks above KI on the list are either year round operational or are out of the country.
  2. Ty did you notice if the park replaced the ACE coaster landmark sign that had been outside the queue? I didn't see it in any of the pictures...

    Sounds at KI

I love the crash sound SoB makes at the bottom of the lift of well. However, I'd also have to say that the sound of The Racer over top of you as you walk under it to go to FOF and Firehawk has appeal as well. I also love the midcourse brake sound on Vortex.
  4. One can only speculate... and I don't know if this is mentioned. However, if you look at that picture of the station work, it looks like the queue might enter the station on the Coney side. So at one point we may go under track to get there if we enter in rivertown. I love walking under track
  5. Mine are... 1. Son of Beast 2. Flight Deck (I really love suspended coasters) 3. Beast 4. Vortex 5 Tie between Invertigo and Backlot Stunt Track
  6. I saw TopGun1993 several time throughout the day. I was behind you up in the tower when you were taking pictures of the construction. I don't really know too many people on here, but I can spot the staff of the site.
  7. When does Proctor and Gamble use the park? Maybe they are using it earlier this year.
  8. That's Amazing! The numbers are a bit skewed since they didn't have the Paramount parks all of 2006 right? It's funny that the mentioning of Geauga has been wiped off the ending paragraph. I hope we get the Americana Ferris Wheel.
  9. Honestly... I wasn't expecting anything next season until the departure of Geauga Lake. Then I expected Kings Island to get a slice of "Americana" so to speak. In all honesty though, I would be extremely happy if they just continued to clean up the park and kept splashing paint where it was needed. They need to rid the place of the rest of Paramount (except Nick.) Also, Delirium could use some nice, new, shiny, not peeled labels on the discus and a touch up of paint(probably unlikely). The sight of those labels drove me nuts  One thing I hope to learn soon; is whats gonna go down with all those G-trains? One plea I have is to spuce up, paint, and retheme Top Gun. That alone would make my season... (Along with the 2009 hyper announcement.)

  11. I found it quite odd the ride operator said it... but as loud as it was in the station I could have missed a few key words. Perhaps he said nearly? I just hope it gets to keep the title of fastest.
  12. Wow... I really can't believe what I'm hearing. I rode it sunday with a friend three different times. All three times were considerable better all around. I rode in the red train twice and the blue once, each time in a different seat. My friend and I were amazed. She absolutely loved it. (she wasn't too keen on the idea of riding at first.) I found it smoother than the Beast and the Racer. IMO recaR is a bit smoother. Honestly if the ride holds up I see it sticking around for longer than I previously thought. To support this I bring up this fact. Upon the arrival of each train back into the station there was something I rarely heard in the station; Cheering and clapping from the riders. Even the operator commented on how he loved the smiling faces over the station intercom. Also props to the crew they were great sunday. Loved the story about how they caught SoB last year in outpost five. Also mentioned that after being caught he received surgery to try to tame him. Then he continued on about how he escaped again from his crate and it was our job to board our test vehicles to find THE SON OF BEAST! (All of this while they were loading and unloading.) He also went over specs top speed 80mph?!?
  13. I'm a little confused... SoB received two trains right? From what I read, it sounded like there were two red trains and one blue. I thought there were two trains, one of each color. No matter what, I still can't wait.
  14. That's awesome that KI gets to be the only park with two landmarks. I didn't even see the historical marker today. I'll have to look for it next time. I had little kids shoving behind me at the entrance
  15. Just got back from the park about an hour ago. Had an interesting note. Last weekend I saw workers cleaning out the queue for Son of Beast. Well, today's news beats that by far. During my trip down from the Eiffel Tower the elevator operator was upset. He complained he hadn't had a question all day. After we got back to the ground as we exited I said, "I've got a question I bet you can't answer." He said, "ask away." I asked, "when is SoB going to be opening." He said, "the park has told me to say two and a half weeks, and that was about a week ago." He also said "They have the new trains and have tested." I believe the employee's name was Brian and he said it should be open for sure before the end of June.... He must of been semi-important to the tower because he was training a new employee. So maybe he would have the news. I don't know how reliable this info is... but I about flipped when I heard it. I know that there was news on the "other" site that trains had been spotted on site. I've heard that they are hard to see. Also they can only be seen from Adventure Express. So, I doubt they have tested. He might have been leading me on a bit. However, it's still exciting, the giant should be awakening soon!
  16. Stopped by KI's website to look around and noticed a little mistake. Under rides and attractions it mentions The Beast being the longest wooden roller coaster for 34 years. The parks only been open for 35. The beast didn't open in 73. I just found this to be a little funny.
  17. That would be awesome if it ran. I didn't see any evidence of trains saturday. Like Hendrick I would love to just hear it. The test dummies that I was talking about have been sitting there every since the late season tests last year.
  18. I try to peak into the station evertime I go. I didn't see anything new on saturday. Test dummies are sitting inside the station along the exit side. Those have been there a long time though.
  19. Took a trip to KI yesterday. It was a beautiful day! Spent most of my time at Boomerang Bay. Did quite a bit there. A lot was new to me because I had only been once previously. Got a little too crowed so we headed to the main park. Park food was great today as we purchased some steaming hot chicken tenders from Bubba Gumps. After that, we had an awesome Top Gun ride. I finally got to ride Firehawk. I found it to be one of the most unique experiences yet. The good thing was we only waited about an hour and 10 minutes. Other than the few rides and the water park; nothing else notable happened other than when we got off of Top Gun. I had a great day overall! Although it isn't a completely mind-blowing observation... While hopping off of Top Gun we passed the dormant Son of Beast. There was some activity in the queue. A sweeper had a heavy duty broom sweeping out the "gunk" in the places where the trash cans sit. I assume he was tidying up the SoB queue for opening. This is like the first time I've seen activity in the area while the park is open, which is exciting for me. I am so excited to see SoB run again. Action zone seems to quiet without it.
  20. I was blessed to get a ride on Maverick on Monday the 28th. All I have to say is that Maverick does not believe in brakes. Nonstop speed the entire ride. Maverick is also generous with airtime. It catches you several times. I got the most over the first hill and drop. Everyone of those 95 degrees get you.
  21. I'm making the trip up to Cedar Point here soon. I'm just a bit confused. The all Ohio parking pass is an option considering the amount of trips I make to the parks. However, I only see it available to purchase from Cedar Point. Is it valid if I purchase it from Cedar Point being a Kings Island Maxx pass holder? Basically what I'm asking is does the parking pass only allow Cedar Point holders to park at all three. I'm thrilled at all the possibilities now that Cedar Fair owns all three Ohio parks. Just a little confused on thier policies.
  22. I rode it during a class trip in 2001 and I didn't find it too bad. I was terrified of roller coasters then and it kind of broke me of that. So I had to enjoy it somewhat. However, I did find The Beast to be smoother
  23. So that most likely answers my question. I was looking into getting into Joe Cool at Cedar Point. So, will I not be able to purchase that if I have a Maxx pass from Kings Island? Also, not to get off topic but I have another question. My girlfriend cannot afford to purchase a season pass before opening day. I know usually you can buy a ticket and upgrade. Does she have to upgrade right then at the park, or can she save proof of purchase and upgrade later?
  24. Screamin Demon. Just the thought of the queue line shaking makes me wish I got to experience the ride. Scooby's Ghoster Coaster vs The Barvarian Beetle
