  2. https://ohiostatefair.com/ride-provider-2019-2022/ Talley Amusements to provide rides at the Ohio State Fair from 2019 through 2022 COLUMBUS – The Ohio Expositions Commission has completed the more than six-month process to select a ride provider for the Ohio State Fair. Today, the commission named Talley Amusements from Fort Worth, Texas, as the carnival ride provider for a four-year contract beginning in 2019. “Talley Amusements is a rising star in the amusement business,” explained Ohio State Fair General Manager Virgil Strickler. “Talley’s commitment to safety, ride maintenance and quality, and professionalism contributed to the company receiving the highest score in our robust selection process.” A Request for Proposal (RFP) was distributed to carnival companies throughout the country in February, with proposals received from five companies: Amusements of America, Belle City Amusements, Kissell Entertainment, Reithoffer Shows and Talley Amusements. A selection team comprised of the executive officers of the Ohio Expositions Commission, as well as four Ohio Expo Center & State Fair staff members, completed a comprehensive process evaluating proposals based on a number of criteria including: Quality of rides, games, shows and other concessions Current operation/management philosophies and polices Past experience and previous performance for the last three years (including daily timeliness of ride, game and attraction opening; frequency which rides and shows are not operating; ride, game and show general appearance; lot cleanliness; personnel cleanliness; proper posting of information and signage) Safety (including current safety policies and procedures as well as a review of all general liability claims and loss run outlining serious injuries or accidents) The top three finalists, Talley Amusements, Amusements of America and Reithoffer Shows, were invited to Columbus to make presentations before the selection team in May. Members of the team then visited each carnival finalist while in operation at a fair in order to view and evaluate rides, record-keeping and operational procedures. “Talley Amusements is honored to be the next amusement provider at the Ohio State Fair,” said Tom Talley, President of Talley Amusements. “We look forward to putting our 200-plus years of combined experience to work, delivering the safest and best-possible entertainment experience, adding another successful chapter to the proud Ohio State Fair tradition. Our commitment to the people of Ohio and the State Fair is to provide a destination experience, while continuing to set establishing industry best-practices for safety and quality.” Talley Amusements has provided rides at many fairs and festivals, including the Iowa State Fair, State Fair of Texas and Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Amusements of America provided rides at the Ohio State Fair the previous 26 years, with the most recent contract concluding with the 2018 Ohio State Fair. The Ohio Expo Center is proud to host the Ohio State Fair. With big-name entertainment, educational activities, hundreds of exhibits and one of the largest junior livestock shows in the nation, the 2019 Ohio State Fair will run July 24 – Aug. 4. 3. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/play/rides/kings-mills-antique-autos Kings Mills Antique Autos Coming Spring 2019 Kings Island's most beloved attraction, the antique cars ride, is returning to the park in spring 2019. In the new Kings Mills Antique Autos family ride, guests will board replica classic touring cars and take a leisurely drive around a scenic track equipped with a small rail to keep the car on the path. The ride will be comparable to the original Les Taxis antique car ride, combining nostalgia with new enhancements. Kings Mills Antique Autos will be located in Coney Mall, across from the Juke Box Café and alongside The Racer roller coaster. The ride will be a quarter mile in length and last approximately three minutes. The cars are 2/3 scale replicas of the 1911 Ford Model T; though all-new, they will retain the vintage feel of the original Les Taxis. The ride's name, as well as theming throughout the attraction, is expected to enhance the nostalgic experience for riders.

  8. Mystic Timbers to debut in the spring of 2017 MASON, Ohio – Construction is underway on a new wooden roller coaster adventure for visitors to Kings Island. Themed to an area surrounding a lumber company becoming overrun by a mysterious medusa-like overgrowth of vines as nature reclaims its land, Mystic Timbers will be 3,265 feet in length, reach 109 feet in height and weave along steep cliffs, down ravines, cross over water and go through an extreme S-turn, among a forest of trees, at speeds up to 53 mph. The ride will feature a total of 16 airtime hills, a mid-course tunnel and interact with parts of the Kings Island & Miami Valley Railroad and White Water Canyon attractions. “Mystic Timbers is naturally exciting because of its setting in a densely wooded area,” Kings Island’s vice-president and general manager Greg Scheid said. “The natural rugged terrain and tunnel ensures a unique and memorable ride experience.” Mystic Timbers is custom designed and built for the topography of Kings Island by Great Coasters International, Inc. (GCI) of Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Three trains will accommodate 24 passengers each (four riders per car and six cars per train) with a capacity of 1,275 riders per hour. Guests must be at least 48 inches tall to ride. The ride experience will last more than two minutes. “Everyone who enjoys the fun and thrills of riding a roller coaster will want to experience this attraction,” Scheid said. Mystic Timbers will debut in the spring of 2017 and become Kings Island’s 16th roller coaster and its fourth wooden. With the addition of Mystic Timbers, Kings Island’s wooden roller coasters will combine to measure 18,804 feet of track, which will be the most at any amusement or theme park in the world. Those who cannot wait until spring may take a virtual ride on Mystic Timbers at mystictimbers.visitkingsisland.com. Visitors of the website may also access exclusive updates and features, including virtual ride renderings, ride statistics, construction photos and a live Web cam.
