THE STORY OF MYSTIC TIMBERS
Rivertowns beginning was the formation of the K.I. & Miami Valley Railroad and the Miami River Lumber Company. The lumber company began buying large sections of wooded land with the goal of using the railroad to make it easier to ship the timber out. But something mysterious, something that could not be explained, began to happen. The area surrounding the lumber company became overrun by a medusa-like growth of vines as nature moved in and reclaimed its land.

TRACK LAYOUT AND STATS

  • Length: 3,265 feet
  • Max Height: 109 feet
  • Top Speed: 53 mph
  • Airtime Hills: 16
Mystic Timbers is one of the most highly-anticipated new rides for 2017, and with good reason. The wooden roller coaster will be 3,265 feet in length, reach 109 feet in height and weave along steep cliffs, down ravines, cross over water and go through an extreme S-turn, among a forest of trees, at speeds of up to 53 mph.

The ride will feature a total of 16 airtime hills, a mid-course tunnel and interact with parts of the Kings Island & Miami Valley Railroad and White Water Canyon attractions.

DESIGNER INFORMATION
Great Coasters International, Inc. (GCI) offers the smoothest, most twisted and highest quality wooden roller coaster attractions in the world.

Great Coasters International, Inc. specializes in "twister" type rides. These convoluted designs, coupled with their own Millennium Flying articulating coaster trains, create an experience that emulate the acrobatic thrills of a modern roller coaster while retaining the nostalgic look and feel of a timeless, classic attraction.

Mystic Timbers will be the 23rd roller coaster designed and installed by Great Coasters International, Inc., and the fourth ride with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. Previous Cedar Fair rides include Gold Striker (2013) at California's Great America; Prowler (2009) at World's of Fun and Renegade (2007) at Valleyfair.

The best way to escape the 600 clowns, werewolves, zombies, undertakers and assorted ghouls you'll encounter at Kings Island's Halloween Haunt is by experiencing some of the best night rides in the world: The Beast, Banshee and Diamondback.

Come feel the excitement on the longest wooden roller coaster in the world as The Beast unleashes its awesome power on the unsuspecting. The Beast sprawls across a densely-wooded, 35-acre site at speeds up to 65 miles per hour and as anyone who has ridden it at night will attest, it's a totally different animal at night.

Riders will scream their way through 4,124 feet of track and seven stomach-churning inversions at speeds up to 68 mph on the world's longest steel inverted roller coaster, Banshee. Similar to The Beast, this incredible coaster offers two different experiences for thrill seekers between day and night rides.

After you've conquered The Beast and Banshee, try slithering your way around 5,282 feet of steep drops, twists and turns through 10 acres of terrain at speeds up to 80 miles per hour on the tallest and fastest roller coaster at Kings Island, Diamondback. A spectacular splashdown ending adds to the thrill.

The thrills don't stop with these three amazing coasters. In all, a total of 20 rides are open from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. every Friday and Saturday night at Halloween

#71165 Halloween Haunt strikes terror in Ohio beginning September 25

Posted by PKIDelirium on 23 September 2015 - 09:00 PM

Experience evil incarnate for yourself, with haunted mazes and vile creatures, at one of the largest, most terrifying Halloween events in Ohio, Halloween Haunt at Kings Island.

Halloween Haunt will start September 25 and run every Friday and Saturday night through October 31.

A veritable playground of terror, Halloween Haunt features 11 haunted mazes, four outdoor scare zones, three live shows and more than 600 monsters lurking in the shadows along the midways, plus 20 rides including the Banshee, Beast and Diamondback roller coasters.

New this year is Blackout, an eerie dark indoor maze experience. Screams of pure panic will pierce the night as visitors become lost within the darkness and the level of fear is amplified as they become aware they are being followed by ghouls and whispered at.

Popular returning mazes include: Board to Death, CarnEvil, Cornstalkers, Delta Delta Die, Kill Mart, Madame Fatale’s Cavern of Terror, Slaughter House, Tombstone Terror-Tory, Urgent Scare and Wolf Pack.

“Blood Drums,” a percussive blood bath of rhythm and music, and “Hot Blooded,” a seductive after-life music revue, return for their fourth and sixth seasons, respectively. A new show, “Monster Rock” featuring the music of Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith and more, rounds out the live entertainment lineup.

Halloween Haunt is a seven-hour experience from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., making it one of the longest and most intense horror nights in the country.

Tickets for Halloween Haunt are as low as $29.99 when purchased in advance online at visitkingsisland.com/haunt or the park’s mobile app, which iPhone and Android users can download for free.

Visitors looking to make the most of their night can add Fright Lane with Skeleton Key for as low as $40, which allows them to bypass waiting in line to experience each of the 11 haunted mazes. The Skeleton Key unlocks a secret extra room inside of five mazes: Delta Delta Die, Kill Mart, Madame Fatale’s Cavern of Terror, Slaughter House and Urgent Scare.

Parents, be advised. Halloween Haunt includes graphic scenes, suggestive themes and intense imagery and is intended for mature audiences; not recommended for children. #70441 KINGS ISLAND'S EIFFEL TOWER A REGAL LANDMARK

Posted by PKIDelirium on 05 September 2014 - 11:37 PM

Tuesday, August 26th, 2014

MASON, Ohio – It has stood as a majestic symbol for 43 years; almost as if it were the caretaker of Kings Island.

That description could only fit the Eiffel Tower, the massive 314-foot replica of the original Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

Guarding the end of International Street at the 364-acre amusement and waterpark, the 450-ton structure has certainly been the dominating landmark at Kings Island and Warren County area, and it was planned to fit that role.

The design and steel fabrication for the Eiffel Tower was done by Intamin AG of Zurich, Switzerland. The attraction was erected in just over 30 days by Southern Ohio Fabricators, Inc., after the steel arrived on park property in the spring of 1971. Installation and equipment costs for the tower exceed $1 million, making it the second-most expensive attraction at Kings Island behind the Enchanted Voyage for the park’s debut season in 1972. There are 15,000 bolts holding the structure firm.

The Eiffel Tower is a one-third scale replica of the pride of Paris and one of the most photographed attractions in the amusement and theme park industry. On a clear day, park visitors can see 18 miles out into the region from the 275-foot and 265-foot high observation platforms.

More than 38 million guests have ridden one of two elevators to the top of the Eiffel Tower for a birds-eye view of the park since 1972. Guests are welcome to stay for however long they would like before returning to the ground.

Posted by PKIDelirium on 15 December 2013 - 11:41 PM

Thursday, November 7th, 2013

KINGS ISLAND, Ohio – Kings Island has named Nathan Gushulak as its first executive chef.

Gushulak is no stranger to Kings Island, having worked seasonally at the 364-acre amusement and waterpark for the past seven years. He was responsible this past season for overseeing the opening and operation of the Reds Hall of Fame Grille.

His culinary background also includes a stint in the food and beverage division at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

In his role as executive chef, Gushulak will bring a more defined culinary presence to Kings Island. The Loveland, Ohio native will also assist in menu development, food analysis and culinary education.

“Hiring an executive chef will yield a better dining experience for our guests,” said Gary Gochenour, vice-president of food services at Kings Island. “Chef Nathan will bring new and exciting ideas to our already popular portfolio of menu items at the park. We’re thrilled to have him join our management team.”

Gushulak is looking forward to the challenge of elevating the dining experience for guests throughout the park.

“I will be working hard on training our seasonal associates, working on food quality and making the food for our guests as memorable as a ride on the new Banshee roller coaster,” Gushulak said.

Gushulak is a graduate of Moeller High School and Cincinnati State’s Culinary Institute. He begins his new duties immediately.

Due to multiple circumstances, the photos never got uploaded. But after more than two years, they are now online.
